Rewilding the Rom - Beating the Balsam Back

Booking information

Description

Join Thames21 for a day of meaningful impact and community connection as we focus on removing Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the River Rom and the newly created wetland.

Himalayan Balsam is a invasive non-native species that grows rapidly and spreads quickly, smothering other vegetation as it goes. It reduces biodiversity along river banks and wetlands before dying off in the autumn, leaving the banks bare and prone to erosion.

🗓️ Save the Date: Mark your calendars. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or brand new to the experience, we welcome everyone with open arms. Together, we'll contribute to a healthier, more vibrant natural space for present and future generations to enjoy.

📍 Location: The Chase Nature Reserve, Dagenham, Romford RM7 0SS

We will meet by the Eastbrookend Discovery Centre Car Park, next to the picnic area and walk to the wetland
